'Brownii'
Pin-Cushion Spikemoss

Selaginella kraussiana ‘Brownii' - Pin-Cushion Spikemoss

Description

Spikemoss is a primitive plant and although it produces spores it is not a true fern.  It is considered one of the fern allies this genus consists of 700 species.  Spikemoss loves the same growing conditions as ferns, with ample moisture, high humidity and shade.  They have scale-like leaves and most species are creeping plants that form dense carpets of soft mounds that love to sprawl between the rocks of waterfalls.  Pin-Cushion Spikemoss is a small, evergreen form with a mounding habit growing to only 3”. This Spikemoss should not be confused with Selaginella braunii. Selaginella kraussiana 'Brownii' is a great plant for dish gardens, along with bonsai plants and in terrariums.
