Rosa banksiae
'Lutea'
Yellow Lady Banks Rose

Rosa banksiae 'Lutea' - Yellow Lady Banks Rose

Description

'Rosa banksiae ‘Lutea’ is a species rose from China that was introduced to Europe in 1824. One specimen of this plant in Tombstone, Arizona is listed in Guinness’ Book of World Records as the worlds largest rose tree at 113 years, and measures 70 feet long. 'Lutea' is a vigorous grower and prolific bloomer that will quickly cover any arbor or trellis in one season, so be sure to give this rose strong support. Lady Banks Rose blooms only once in May and the blooms will last for 4 weeks, however the gorgeous display of clustered, double blooms are well worth the yearly wait. The Yellow Lady Banks Rose is a nearly thornless, non-fragrant, evergreen rose with long, narrow lancelot leaves. This Rose blooms on 2nd and 3rd year wood so keep dead canes and older growth pruned out. It will do well in poor soils and is deer, insect, and disease resistant.
