Dianella tasmanica 'Tasred' is a coarse textured plant with wide strappy leaves. The foliage is green with hints of contrasting red throughout. The dark green foliage shows more red tones during the cooler winter months. The flower are rich blue and come out in the early spring and summer and are followed by blue berries. Tasred™ PPAF has color and texture contrast that make it ideal for massing and border plantings while also being great in containers or as a specimen plant. Dianella's are great alternative to liriopes and other groundcovers. These plants will thrive in full sun to partial shade and can tolerate sandy and clay soils. Dianella tasmanica 'Tasred' is one tough cookie as it also tolerates heavy frost, drought and hot/humid conditions, sounds perfect for Texas! Will remain evergreen in average winters to 24°F.
