Ruellia brittoniana ‘Pink’ Dwarf Pink Ruellia, Mexican Petunia

The flowers of Ruellia brittoniana ‘Pink’ are much like those of a cultivated petunia however they are a bit more cupped and funnel-like. The plants are erect, 12-24 inches tall and have few branches. The leaves are 2-5 inches long, narrow at the base and very short. The blooms are borne on the top of the plant in clusters of trumpet-shaped flowers. Mexican Petunias prefer full sun but will tolerate some shade (to the sacrifice of some flowering). Flowering on Dwarf Pink Ruellia occurs from late spring to mid summer. This plant can tolerate quite a bit of abuse and neglect and has great drought tolerance. This variety has light pink colored flowers and dark green leaves.
