Quercus polymorpha Monterrey (Mexican) Oak

Mexican Live Oak is native to West Texas and is readily becoming available to the nursery trade.  It is resistant to live oak wilt and is a hardy tree that should be considered a substitute for the Hill Country live oak.  Quercus polymorpha has an upright growth when young but spreads to 60’ wide as it matures and will reach a height of 80’.  This beautiful oak tree has dark grey to brown scaly bark with reddish-brown twigs and pubescent buds.
