Panicum virgatum ‘Prairie Sky’ Blue Switch Grass

Panicum virgatum ‘Prairie Sky’ was discovered by Richard Gettig of Ohio is a Wisconsin meadow. This selection has stunning blue foliage, even more so than ‘Heavy Metal’ Blue Switch Grass has an upright growth habit and can reach upwards of 4-5′ in height. In mid to late summer fine textured blue plumes top the clumping foliage, these later fade to tan in the fall. Panicum virgatum ‘Prairie Sky’ is a deciduous perennial grass that will fade to tan in the winter months, for best results cut back in late winter for full plants in the spring. This grass will tolerate dry sandy soils and is deer resistant.
